dubpixel was contacted by Chris Smith (L7) to bring new life to the classic Nintendo “Power Glove” controller. All new custom pcbs were designed to upgrade the internal electronics , but maintain the original look and feel. Additionally a ‘left hand” glove was created using in house 3d printed parts combined with key visual components of the original glove.

The unique case designs (modeling by @chasev) draw their visual inspiration from sci-fi spoofs of the 80'‘s and 90’s. It is 12v rechargeable and capable of high volume.

dubpixel has been the video and technical director for OKGO since 2014. Over the past 6 Year, they have worked with the band to create shows scaled and designed for both ‘rock-and-roll’ and family audiences.
The Stress Inversion Transformer is a public art experience created by Damian Kulash (OKGO) commissioned by Mercedes for @ SXSW 2019). Installed in a highly modified sound-proof bank vault, the machine invites the user to release their ‘surplus angst’, to have it be converted to ‘clean’ energy and stored for later. ‘Progress’ is plotted on a series of screens for the viewer, as well as the audience outside, and a score is awarded denoting how much energy you were able to harvest.
dubpixel was asked by Damian to join the project, in order to assist the team from Jetsets, ParkPictures, and PaveGen, with final system integration, display technology, and LED lighting design.
dubpixel provided services as programmer, system engineer & architect for 12+ BMP productions over 10 years. dubpixel was also involved in the development of several illuminated props and wearable costumes.

disc-go-sphere is a 3d kinetic sculpture by engineer and sculptor, Matt Davis. dubpixel provided led engineering and logistic support for the piece.
the 2b2p is a simple PCB with space for 2 buttons (or toggle switches) and 2 potentiometers (either shaft or knob style). Everything on the board routes to a n RJ45 on the rear. This was a quick solution for always needing at least 1 button and 1 pot for most microcontroller experiements.
dubpixel was asked to provide custom 4k background screen imagery for the musical artist JPEGMAFIA’s performance at Coachella Music and Arts festival.
the dpx driver is dubpixel’s in-house designed 2 to 8 port SPI-type discreet led pixel controller. It features at its core a “teensy 3” 32 bit ARM-microcontroller, paired with a octal buffer/line driver for signal stability over distance. The can drive up to 480 pixels per port. It can be deployed as a stand-alone unit, (pairs well with the 2b2p ) as well as function as the end-node for a networked lighting system using Art-Net or sACN.

the poopduino is a microcontroller and light art development board based around the Arduino uno reference
in laymans terms:
the poopduino is a circuit board shaped like a poop, ensconced with 32 2812b 12mm LEDs. It has a chip that is pre-programmed with 15 dynamically controllable blinky patterns - this thing goes full seizure-mode right out of the box. It also comes with 2 lo-profile pots, and 2 lo-profile buttons (built in) for adjusting color, speed, brightness or whatever you program them to do.
The bootloader part means that it programs just like an Arduino - using all the normal things you know and love about Arduinos. All of the pins not used for core ‘Poopduino’ functions have been brought out for easy development access .
sold pre-assembled or as a kit - the poopduino is great accessory for festivals and camping!
dubpixel’s included open-source firmware includes ‘flashlight mode’ - turn up the ‘brightness pot’ up past 80% and it goes 60-80% white (for when you).

a collaboration between Michal Byrnes Studio and dubpixel, the trefoil is a 30’ equilateral triangle grid with over 1100 discreet RGB LEDS. It was originally fabricated for the Doritos BOLD stage at SXSW in 2014. It now lives a less public life, in the dubpixel laboratory.

the clacker is a unique interactive light and sound work created in summer of 2018. The illuminating elements, a vintage LED surplus ‘find’ at one of the many electronics parts stores scattered across the LA valley have been deliberately paired with “clicky” electromechanical relays; providing the sound component. All of the elements in this piece were made from items ‘collected’ as part of dubpixel’s ethos and deep-rooted appreciation for the way in which all technology exists - both old and new.
Christian Coffey, tour manager for Childish Gambino, reached out to dubpixel to repair/upgrade an existing illuminated cloak worn during the “This is America” tour in 2018. In addition to being ruggedized for tour life, the cloak received new discreet LED units, allowing for more dynamic effects. These new LEDs were integrated with industry standard wireless DMX components that allowed pocket-sized wireless control of the entire garment.
