Stress Inversion Transformer

The Stress Inversion Transformer is a public art experience created by Damian Kulash (OKGO) commissioned by Mercedes for @ SXSW 2019). Installed in a highly modified sound-proof bank vault, the machine invites the user to release their ‘surplus angst’, to have it be converted to ‘clean’ energy and stored for later. ‘Progress’ is plotted on a series of screens for the viewer, as well as the audience outside, and a score is awarded denoting how much energy you were able to harvest.

dubpixel was asked by Damian to join the project, in order to assist the team from Jetsets, ParkPictures, and PaveGen, with final system integration, display technology, and LED lighting design.
